Sorry 'bout that folks !

April 29th, 2008

My last entry got saved by mistake along with hideous typing error, so apologies and here is the continuation......... so the tv will be displaying a film of how we make our products in the shop and hopefully make all visitors think 'Wow, that is amazing , I must buy some ' or something along those lines.
The Mary Howard Fairs that we will be doing are as follows:

Chippenham, Hullavington Airfield on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday the 11th, 12th, 13th, & 14th of November 2008.

York, York Racecourse on Tuesday & Wednesday the 18th & 19th of November 2008.

Sandown Racecourse on Tuesday & Wednesday the 25th & 26th of November 2008.

So it is a packed end of year for us because after Sandown we get straight back and into the Bath Christmas Market which takes place all around our shop. This is also well worth visiting for a great atmosphere and lots of fantastic stalls selling great stuff for Christmas.

My advice is avoid the two Saturdays and come and stay a night and hit the market in the evenig when it is much more relaxed and you can also indulge in a glass of mulled wine or a hot chocolate.

New type of fudge at the San Francisco Fudge Factory

May 26th, 2006

All you fudge lovers may want to try our newest type of fudge which is chocolate chilli fudge. This was made at the insisitence of my chief and well revered fudge cook, Gareth Sayers, who has given us many good years of service at the SFFF. In fact he researched ( went down to buy some chilli ) and experimented ( threw a bit in ) and has come up with a really fine chocolate fudge with a hint of chilli. If you buy it we would really welcome some feedback on what you think, whether you make an entry on the blog or just give us a bell at the SFFF.
Any way happy eating , best wishes Mark and the team.

Strawberries are back !

March 6th, 2006

Great news we have started doing chocolate dipped strawberries at the San Francisco Fudge Factory again ( only at weekends just at the moment) after a break of some years. Of course the bad news is that we don't send these in the post and never have done as they are too delicate by far. So if you want them you have to come in to the shop in person, and that has to be at weekend at the moment. During the summer we will do them every day of the week. If you want them during the week at the moment, you are always welcome to phone up and order them and we will dip them specially for you.
For those of you who do not know when we opened in 1995 we used to do choc dipped strawberries religiously every day and that lasted for years. Then we got a bit sporadic about it and then they just gradually fell off the daily agenda, much to the chagrin of my wife.
But now as the San Francisco Fudge Factory has got well under way in it's second decade it is time to bring them back with a vengeance!

information for people who have allergies.

March 2nd, 2006

Generally we say that ours is not a good shop for people who suffer from nut allergies , all our fudges are made on the same table and thus a chocolate walnut may be followed by a chocolate mint and a vanilla pecan may be followed by a penuche and so on. It is not possible to ensure that from one batch to another that the table is cleaned sufficiently thereby making sure that no rogue pieces or even traces of nut pass from a previous batch to the following one.

Those who suffer from an intolerance to gluten however such as celiacs( hope I've spelt this right )will be able to eat our fudge except the cookies and cream which obviously has flour in the cookies.

If you are intolerant to dairy or have an allergy to that then it is not good news for you I'm afraid as all our fudges are made with fresh milk and fresh cream and fresh butter.

Historical Seal

February 17th, 2006

Those who have been to San Francisco may have visited Pier 39 - where the San Francisco Fudge Factory originated from - and seen the seals at the end of the pier on the left. The pier has just celebrated the 16 th anniversary of the arrival of these seals that also being the year that I arrived in San Francisco ( 1990 ) not knowing I was about to meet my future wife as she worked in her fudge
shop! One day a few seals just upped and onto one of the pontoons - where wealthy boat owners moored their yachts - and lay around in the sun. people hung over the side of the pier and ogled in fascination as this had never happened before. The seals would not move and gradually as their numbers swelled so a few of the boatowners had to move their vessels to another location. Over the years they have become a tourist attraction in their own right and have grown so many in numbers that I gather a massive amount of previously prime San Francisco mooring estate has been relinqhished to these slippery seals and their fishy smells and their shiny bodies.
