Sugar, glucose syrup, butter, sodium bicarbonate, cooked to a very high temperature; at the last minute the peanuts and a dash of vanilla are thrown in and it is poured on to the buttered and floured marble slab, to stop it sticking, where it is stretched to thin it out before it hardens into pieces of classic peanut brittle.
